[Czech Republic] The Whistleblower Protection Act

The Whistleblower Protection Act came into force in the Czech Republic on 1 August 2023 and represents the long-awaited implementation of the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive. The main purpose of the Act is to encourage and facilitate the reporting of potential infringements. The legislation defines the whistleblower, the infringement and introduces protective measures for whistleblowers and other participants in the process. Employers with more than 50 employees must implement an internal whistleblowing system to ensure whistleblower protection. This article provides detailed information on employers’ obligations, the whistleblowing process, protective measures and penalties for violations.
