The government has prepared a project to help employ young people immediately after graduating from high school or university. The project called “the Right to Employment” started at the beginning of May this year.
The project is set up so that the state pays the employer up to 90% of the total cost of work for a young employee (up to 30 years old), who has recently graduated from high school or university, or who has returned from abroad and has not yet worked in Slovakia.
The financial support is provided to the employer for the next six months and is in advance. The work for a young employee should be secured in this way for at least half a year. Employers can apply for this financial support from April 10, 2024.
As part of the project, a financial contribution is provided to participating employers who hire job seekers from the eligible target group of the project for the created jobs. One of the conditions is the conclusion of a fixed-term employment relationship with the condition of employment for a period of at least 12 months, or for an indefinite period. The scope of the concluded employment relationship must be at least half of the established weekly working time.
The financial contribution is provided for a maximum of 6 months, within 15 calendar days from the date of entry into force of the agreement on the provision of the financial contribution. For the next 6 months, the employer is obliged to maintain the job without a contribution.
A monthly contribution to the employer will be provided to cover part of the total cost of work per created job for one month in the amount of 90 percent of the total cost of the employee’s work, up to a maximum of EUR 1,318.53 per month. The total amount of anticipated support for one participant is EUR 7,911.20.
Implementation of the Right to First Employment project is planned until the end of 2024. 13 million euros are allocated for the project from the state budget of the Slovak Republic.
