[Poland] Minimum remuneration in 2023 – government has adopted a regulation

On 13 September 2022 the Council of Ministers has adopted a draft regulation on the minimum remuneration in 2023. The amounts presented are higher than previously announced.

The draft regulation on the minimum remuneration in 2023 has been officially approved by the government. The minimum pay will be increased twice in 2023:

  • as from 1 January 2023 – the minimum pay will amount to PLN 3490 gross,
  • as from 1 July 2023 – the minimum pay will reach PLN 3600 gross.

The minimum hourly rate for civil law contracts will also be increased twice in 2023:

  • as from 1 January – the minimum hourly rate will amount to PLN 22.80 gross,
  • as from 1 July – it will be PLN 23.50 gross.

The amounts approved by the government are higher than those previously announced (learn more: Minimum pay in 2023 – government is planning two increases).

Moreover, the increase in the minimum pay in 2023 will be one of the highest. At present, in 2022, the minimum remuneration is PLN 3010 gross and the minimum hourly rate amounts to PLN 19.70.

The government’s decision on two increases in the minimum pay and the minimum hourly rate is a response to the current economic situation and follows from the provisions of the Budget Bill. When the projected total consumer price index amounts to at least 105 per cent, the government is obliged to set two increases in the minimum pay during the year.
