[Czech Republic] Increase in net wages through quarantine contribution will probably continue

Since March of this year, the contribution during the ordered quarantine has been in force. Parliament introduced the law to motivate people who were tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 to report their contacts. In many cases, the contribution grants a higher “net salary” than if one was working. Thus, people do not have to worry about a loss of income.

Payroll accountant, therefore, pays an extraordinary compensation for quarantine together with the standard wage compensation of quarantine.

The contribution was supposed to be valid until the end of April, but according to Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs’ statistics, the law brought the intended effect and the ratio of quarantines and isolations to infected persons increased compared to previous months. So now Parliament is negotiating an extension of the contribution until the end of June 2021.

Therefore, if the law is approved by the Senate and signed by the president, employees can look forward to extended validation of the extraordinary contribution.
